Perth: Australia has changed its national anthem, which has been in use as a British colony since 1984, but the country’s ancient population wanted a change.
According to the international news agency, the Australian government has announced changes in its national anthem at the beginning of the year 2021. In the second line of the hymn, the English word ‘young’ has been changed to ‘one’.
The line For we are young and free gave the impression that Australia was a new nation that the ancients strongly objected to and was considered a reminder of British rule.
This line has now been changed to For we are one and free. The change comes at a time when Australia’s older population is complaining that the government is discriminating and oppressing them.
