Even a 5% weight loss can prevent diabetes, research shows-Read

Illinois: Extensive research in the United States has found that a mere 5% weight loss can greatly reduce the risk of developing diabetes.

The study used health data from approximately 24,000 different ethnic Americans collected from 2001 to 2016, during two major studies.

The two studies, entitled “MESA” and “NHANES”, began in 1999 and 2000, respectively, and continue to this day.

The study, which found that overweight and obese people had significantly higher rates of type 2 diabetes, also found that people who lost only 5% lost weight. Many of them survived diabetes.

“We were shocked to learn the severity of the burden of diabetes due to obesity. One-third to one-half of all new diabetics have been diagnosed with obesity, ”said Dr. Saadia S. Khan, an assistant professor at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University in Illinois and lead researcher.

The study also found that most diabetics in the United States belong to the middle and poor class, who have access to low-quality medical care while living in an unhealthy environment.
